Fabric Is Everything (Seriously)

Because you’re not just decorating—you’re living.

When we design a home, fabric isn’t an afterthought. It’s a decision that touches your life—literally. The right fabric can make a space feel polished, inviting, and comfortable. The wrong one? Scratchy, stained, saggy, or just plain stressful.

Start with feel

Designers call it the hand of a fabric—and it matters. Does it feel good to sit on, touch, lean against? A gorgeous textile that’s itchy or stiff is a fast track to “I never sit there.” Your home should invite you in, not make you perch carefully on the edge.

Performance is key

These days, there’s no excuse for beauty without durability. Performance fabrics like Crypton, InsideOut, and pet yarns are stain-resistant, soil-resistant, and ready for real life. You can spill, cuddle, live on them—and they’ll keep looking fabulous.

Consider your lifestyle

Dogs? Avoid loose weaves or boucle that snag easily. Go for tightly woven performance fabrics or leather.

Kids? Look for wipeable, stain-resistant options in darker tones or patterned weaves that hide mess.

Entertaining often? Softer luxe options like velvet work—but only if it’s treated or in a formal space.

High use areas? Texture and durability are your best friends.

The leather convo

We always lean toward real leather when we can—nothing beats that rich patina and buttery texture over time. But faux leather has its place too, especially in wipe-down zones or where budget or ethics play a role.

Just know:

Real leather wears in.

Faux leather wears out.
